Looking for a quit weed app?
Most quit smoking apps count cigarettes only. Here is what to look for instead, and where the help is.

I build The Long View, a quit smoking app, so I should say up front what it does not do. It counts tobacco. Its numbers come from studies of cigarette smokers, and none of them apply to cannabis. Anyone who says their app works out what weed has cost you in years is making the number up.
What a quit weed app should do
- Count every clean day. A slip should cost that day and leave the weeks before it standing.
- Track money. What you used to spend is a number you can see grow.
- Log cravings and sleep. Poor sleep and strange dreams are common in the first weeks off cannabis, and seeing them pass helps.
- Point to real help. An app works best next to support, never as a replacement for it.
If you mix it with tobacco
In much of Europe and the UK, joints are often rolled with tobacco. That tobacco is nicotine, and nicotine is often what makes stopping hard. If you smoke spliffs, you are also quitting tobacco, and a quit smoking app can count that part. Enter the tobacco you used each day as cigarettes, and The Long View works out what that part has cost and what stopping gives back.
Where to get free help
In the US, the SAMHSA National Helpline is free, confidential and open all day, every day, at 1-800-662-4357. In the UK, FRANK offers free advice about cannabis. A doctor can also point you to local support.
