I'm Lee H. I build The Long View on my own, the same way I've already built three other apps that are shipped and live. This page is the long version: who I am, what else carries my name, why this one exists, and exactly how you can check the math yourself.

Why The Long View exists

Smoking is usually described with warnings. The quit apps I looked at before building this one counted days instead, which is a real achievement and not an answer. The question someone quitting actually asks is simpler and harder: what has this cost me, and how much of it can I get back? That answer is a number in years, and the pieces of it already existed. Population life tables give the baseline, and published cessation research gives what smoking takes and what quitting returns. Nobody was putting those two together and showing their work, so I built something that does.

The math is published in full, sources named, on the methodology page, including the two places it stops being a measurement and becomes an educated guess.
