What stays free
The core is free forever, on every platform: the life-expectancy estimate, the daily check-in, one photo of your reason for quitting, and the recovery curve that shows how much of the estimate comes back as you stay quit. Nobody is asked to pay in order to quit smoking.
What premium adds
Planned premium features: home screen and lock screen widgets, the Apple Watch and Wear OS companion apps, multiple photos instead of one, full history and trends, data export, the Mac and Windows desktop apps, and a money saved figure alongside the time saved figure. Money saved needs one extra number, the price of a pack of cigarettes (a pack is assumed to hold 20), entered in settings rather than during onboarding.

Through the App Store or Google Play: $4.99 a month, or $39.99 a year.
Bought directly from thelongviewapp.com: planned at around $3.99 a month. It is cheaper because a direct sale does not pay the app stores' commission, typically 15 to 30 percent.
How a direct purchase would work
A direct purchase happens on this website, not in the app. Checkout and payment happen here, and what comes back is a licence key. The app itself never asks for an email address or payment details, because it collects neither: it only ever accepts a licence key you already have. Buying through the App Store or Google Play instead means Apple or Google handle the purchase, and the app never sees that information either. Either way, the app collects no personal data about you.
