thelongviewapp.com describes The Long View and the numbers behind it, and sells subscriptions to the app's premium features. Everything else on it is informational.

The app

The app is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. Use it at your own discretion.

The estimate

Any figure the app or this site shows, in years, months or money, is a motivational estimate built from population averages. It does not give medical advice, a diagnosis, a treatment or a prediction about you specifically. See the methodology page for how it is calculated, and the privacy page for what the app does and does not collect.

No guarantee is made or offered about the accuracy of any figure or calculation, in the app or on this site. The numbers are estimates drawn from published research about populations, and no estimate of this kind can be accurate about one person. They are provided as they are, for motivation, and nothing should be decided on the strength of them that you would not decide anyway.

Quitline numbers

This site shows a stop smoking helpline number, and where it can tell which country a visitor is in, it shows that country's number, and the US number otherwise. Those numbers are taken from publicly available information published by national health authorities and are reproduced as a convenience.

No guarantee is made or offered about their accuracy, availability, cost or opening hours, and showing one is not a referral, a recommendation or an offer of any service. The services are not ours, we have no relationship with them, and we do not control what they do. Numbers change. If one does not work, look up the current number for your country yourself.

The country is worked out from the network address the request arrives from, which is a guess and is often wrong for anyone using a VPN. Nothing about it is stored.

The free version

The free version of The Long View may carry advertising. We reserve the right to add advertising to it at any time, with or without notice, and to change or remove it in the same way. Paid subscriptions are not advertising supported, and neither is premium retained under the clause below.

Free trial and billing

The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, on this website, in the App Store and on Google Play. Cancel before the trial ends and you are never charged. After the trial, the yearly price is charged and renews each year until you cancel. The monthly plan is charged when you subscribe and renews each month until you cancel. Plans bought through the App Store or Google Play follow that store's own trial and billing terms.

Cancel and keep everything

After 365 smoke-free days recorded in the app, counted cumulatively, you may cancel your subscription and retain every premium feature permanently, at no further charge, for the quit attempt those days belong to. The same applies if you declare yourself finished after at least 90 days.

Cancellation is yours to perform. Neither Apple nor Google permits a developer to cancel a subscription on a customer's behalf, so the app and this site can only show you where to do it.

Smoking again does not withdraw anything retained under this clause. Beginning a new quit attempt is a deliberate action taken by you, and premium features for a new attempt require a new subscription; the free version remains free throughout.

This clause will not be withdrawn or narrowed for anyone who has already met it. It is published in these terms so that it is a commitment you can hold us to. See the premium page for what it means in practice.

Your subscription across your devices

One Premium subscription covers all of your own devices: sign in with the same email on each and Premium follows you. To keep it a personal subscription, a single subscription may be signed in on up to 10 devices at a time. A normal number of devices never reaches that limit; if a new device signs in past it, the device that has gone longest unused is signed out on its own, and nothing you paid for is lost.

The text, design and code of this site, and of the app, belong to Little Bird Trading LLC, the company behind The Long View.
