The best free quit smoking app for Android
Most of these apps are free to install. What the free version includes, and what it costs you in ads or data, is where they differ.

The short answer
- No ads at all: quitSTART, or Smoke Free's free tier.
- No account, data on the phone: EasyQuit, which shows ads.
- The most people using it: Quit Tracker and QuitNow!, each past 5 million installs.
- A community to quit with: QuitNow!, which needs a profile for it.
I build a quit smoking app of my own, The Long View, which is also on Google Play. It has its own short section at the end, marked as mine, and it is left out of the comparison above.
The free tier, app by app
Install counts, ratings and review counts are from the US Google Play listings, checked on 13 September 2026. They move, so treat them as a snapshot.

| QuitNow! | 5M+ | 4.5 (68.8K) | In-app purchases, profile for community |

Quit Tracker: Stop Smoking
The biggest quit smoking app on Google Play by reviews, from the developer despDev, and it is Android only. The free app tracks money saved, life regained and a health timeline, with rewards along the way, and it carries ads. Its Data safety section says it may share location and app activity with third parties and that data cannot be deleted, which is worth reading before you install. The Quit Tracker alternatives guide goes further.
EasyQuit
No login, and the data stays on the phone. EasyQuit's Slow Mode builds a step-down plan with up to five reminders a day, and there are 100 plus badges and two widgets. The free app shows ads, and removing them means installing the separate Pro app. More in the EasyQuit alternatives guide.
Smoke Free
The free tier is listed as free to use and free of ads, and it already includes the detailed statistics the app is known for: time smoke free, money saved, health indicators and a craving diary. Pro adds daily Missions and an AI Quit Coach. The Smoke Free alternatives guide covers why people move on.
QuitNow!
Built around other people quitting at the same time: profiles, chat and shared milestones, plus a monthly live session with a cessation expert. The community needs a profile. The QuitNow! alternatives guide is there if the profile is the sticking point.
Kwit and Flamy
Kwit turns quitting into levels and achievements with cognitive behavioral therapy tools, and keeps most of its program behind a subscription. Flamy offers a Tapering Off program for cutting down gradually and uses an account to sync. See the Kwit alternatives guide.
quitSTART
Free with nothing to purchase, from the US National Cancer Institute: tailored tips, craving and mood tracking, and distraction games. For a free app with no ads and no upgrade prompts, it is the plainest answer on Android. The quitSTART alternatives guide lists what it leaves out.
Where The Long View fits
Mine, so read this as disclosure. The Long View on Google Play is free on Android phones and tablets, with no ads and no account. Free forever: an estimate of the years smoking has likely cost you and how many come back as you stay quit, a daily check-in, one photo of your reason, the recovery curve, your smoke-free day count and your full history.
Premium adds money saved, home screen widgets, the Wear OS app, export, the quit plan and sync with an iPhone, Mac or Windows PC. The Premium page has the full split, and the quit smoking calculator runs the same math in your browser if you want to see the number first.
App features, prices and listings change and differ by region, so check the current Google Play listing before you install. Nothing here diagnoses, treats or prevents any condition or gives medical advice. Talk to a doctor or a quitline about stopping smoking. In the US, that is 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
